I am going back through some of my old studio projects from school and I ran into one with a major modeling issue. The point of the project was to analyze an object with thermal, aero or hydro dynamic properties and to determine how to use it in building construction to eliminate the need for mechanical systems. My object was a golf ball, I was wondering if there was a way to create either a random and/or repeating surface dimpling pattern with variable depths and sizes. I guess it does not need to be a wall object but would need to be an adaptive component. The construction of the wall would be concrete with the dimpling pattern applied, It would be nice to have the option to change the dimpling pattern in order to test the aerodynamic properties of each. I did this previously in autocad using extrusions and cutting voids out of it. This is long and tedious. Any input would be appreciated.
