Good afternoon....we are a homebuilder with an in house design department. I am using Revit 2014 for one of our multi family projects. The BP drawings are at 90%. They are being stamped by an outside Architect acting as our prime consultant. The reviewing architect wants my model to finalize details.
I do not feel comfortable giving my Revit Project to another firm as it houses a good portion of our in house library within the families we created.
Wanted an opinion on this as an industry standard, ethics or protocol. I can export to AutoCAD which I prefer,
Cheers

We defer to our contract and we pay attention before we sign that. If we are not contractually obligated to share the model, we don't. But we do share our model with consultants all the time and they are limited as to what they are allowed to do. Does this stop them from "stealing" a family? I doubt it and there is no way to lock Revit models or families.
When we are not obligated to share a model, we sometimes share CAD but only with a signed acceptance of a release document.

thank you wwhub. I am getting grief from the Architect. his comments in blue below....I don't think he has any idea what he is talking about. I exported all sheeets which contain plan, elevation, sections and details. I am not understanding what he is asking nor why he needs the model. If I export the entire sheet set all the information for issuance is there. I am trying to establish protocol for our new department and this guy is coming across as well.....
in the Revit files you uploaded the model is not present. All that is in the files is the drafting views and 1 sheet layout per file. Can you please upload the Revit files ensuring that the full model is there.
Glenn has asked us to Audit them to get all the BP information to display properly.

If you are not obligated by contract then you don't have to share. Offer to give him a 3D DWF with all the sheets as well. He can look fully at the model, spin it, section it, list and inspect all elements.
I don't know what BP is.
