Hi there,

I would like to be able to cut a complex curtain wall panel using a void. The curtain wall panel is a sort of applied shading facade designed to be applied to the outside of a basic wall. It includes both vertical facade elements and a horizontal shading element above.

I would like to be able to cut the element on an angle in plan so that I can mitre the panels on a corner of a building.

The Void that I have drawn doesn't want to cut anything. Can anyone help?

Please see attached file.

Thanks in advance

Your process will not work.  If you need to to the cutting in this family rater than the nested families, then create a face based generic faily with a void the cuts the host.  You should make that fully parametric so that you can use it for each elemat you have to cut.  I placed a "screwy" one in your family to show that it works.

I don't know that your family will work in Revit.  Curtain wall panels are tricky so do some early testing.

Thanks for that. Up till now, the panel has been working very well - it's just this question of mitering the corner that is getting a little complicated.

I'm keen to try whatever I can, so would like to see how your void family works - both in the main family and within the individual nested families. Is there any chance you could upload your file?

Again - many thanks.
