I am using Revit 2014 and I have downloaded a revit family for a 3d wall mounted sink with counter top.  The counter top is like 6 feet long and I only want it to be 3 feet long.  So I opened the family editor and changed it to what I wanted, locked the dimensions and even unchecked the Instance Paramter box, but despite all that when I save it and load it back into my project and choose to place that component the component still starts out with the 6 foot counter.

How do I edit the family so that the sink countertop will automatically be 3 feet when I place it in my project?

Your 25" deep is set to 3' but your 21" deep is set to 6'.  So you used the 21" type - right?

Please note that once a family is loaded, the parameters hold unless you over-write the variables too when asked.

Thank you for the help.  After I edited the family and loaded it into my project I did not select to overwrite with parameters, that was my problem.  And today when I tried reloading it, I was not given that overwrite dialogue box again.  I don't know if that was supposed to be that way or not.  Anyway, I realized I was being dumb and could just edit the parameters in the edit type box.
