Is it possible to set core boundaries so that they show up in plan view rather than the entire width of the wall? I don't know if what I am asking makes any sense?
what I am trying to do is still have wall types with all the different elements (layers) in them for details etc, but only show the core boundaries in the plan view for dimensioning to the studs for construction purposes. I know that you can set the dims to core boundary but I don't want them to be placed in the middle of the wall.
I am a new user of Revit please advise?

you can set the dimensions to core faces, that will solve your dimensioning problem.
you can also switch to coarse view, it won't take away the finish layers but it will look like one wall...
