Ok so I am trying to dimension a floor plan, and I am using an Aligned dimension and no matter what i do once I click the second reference point revit dosent create the dimension.
I have an underlay with a cad file could that be the issue? I make sure the actual revit gridlines are being selected and nothing happens. i actually tried the linked cad file also and no luck.
What is going on ? Why is it so hard to dimenions something on a 30 degree angle....?

The CAD file is the issue. Did you trace it? CAD is defined differently then revit and parallel lines may not be truely aparallel as revit requires. I always recomment that you never trace CAD but that you use it for a Reference drawing each line - wall truely parallel as revit requires for dimensioning.

but tracing is so nice! i can do a layout in CAD so quickly, maybe it is just me weening outof the cad world and being rusty in Revit. Thanks WWhub. that makes sense and I guess I will draw a drafting line and dimension to that.

proph .... You should be able to "draft" in REVIT much faster even then CAD. Bite the bullet and quit using CAD ...
Glad to see you back in the saddle after the few years of CAD pain you had to endure.

i investigated the col lines giving me problems and yes they were 1000th of a degree off of 30 so once i selected the grid line i corrected it by typing in the exact 30 degrees on the witness lines.
and yes I agree with you, ! and it feels great to be back ! i can't wait to become a advanced user again as I once was.
Thanks for you help as always.
