I am kinda blown away by how difficult it is to add mullions to a window. I would love to be able to add a 24"x72" fixed or casement window WITH MULLIONS. There does not appear to be anything like this with the default windows or on the Revit site online. I keep looking for a checkbox or setting to add mullions, but for the life of me, cant find one. I have looked at numerous websites for tutorials and forums for people having the same problem as me. It seems to me that having mullions on a window is a common thing. Am I wrong? I feel like I am in the Twilight Zone.

you are still here with us...
to add a mullion you will need to edit the window family and add it there. you can also make it a yes/no parameter, meaning you can than have tick box you've been looking for
might be easier to download a family that has it already.

I also find this very frustrating. I do not want to create a new family of windows each time the Architect decides to change the grill pattern. I believe the grill should be a separate family attached to the window and parametric in nature. I am experimenting with face based mullions that would resize when the host window is resized but have not had much luck. If you come up with an acceptable method I would love to hear about it. I am also experimenting with curtain grids which are very cool and if you make the panels blank the can be overlayed on a window and constrained by the window edges but I am having trouble controlling what plane they wind up in.

I created a way by nesting a mullion array family into my window sash. Attached are some examples of it in action. If there is any interest, I'll post how I did it.

Hi Kredman, I'd be very interested to see how you created your mullion array family. Please post!

Hi kredman,
Can you post how you did the Muttins? I have tried to duplicate it but can't seem to figure it out. Nice job. Looks simpler comapired to others I run across.
Thx!

Folks, that poster has not been around since 2012.
Download a manufacturer window from Seek that has muttins and examine how it is made.
