Hey there,
I'm incredibly new to Revit, but have been watching snippets of tutorials on Youtube and such to try and help.
I work for a pool engineering firm, so naturally nothing we need is in Revit. I'm attemping to create a return inlet (basically where the water is introduced into the pool) which I figured would be best started using the Face-Based component family. The issue I'm having is I'd like the wall to not occur where the return inlet occurs (as only the outtermost ring of the inlet is flush with the face and the rest would occur 'in the wall', see the attached image). This got me looking into void forms, however this also cuts out my return inlet.Longstory short, how do I create a void in the wall where my component occurs, without cutting out my component as well. I'd much prefer when I drop in the component this occurs automatically and I don't have to insert the void seperately.

This is tricky for beginners. In the family, create the void form on the host surface away from your solids and set it to cut the host. A simple rectangle anywhere but near your elements will work. After succesfully cutting the host, edit it to move it to where it belongs. .... done.
