Adaptive Families ROCK ! See image below. Just:
Create a new family from the template > Generic Model Adaptive.
Add 7-8 points in sequential order and then make them 'adaptive'.
Creat a 'spline through points' and pick all the point in the same order.
Draw a small circle at the first point perpendicular to the spline direction.
Select the circle and the spline and click Create Form.
Save and load into project. Pick the 7 points in the correct flow / order.
Tab to grab the points and use the 3d controls to push and pull the points around and the spline will adapt.
You may want to do this from various flat / perpendicular 3d views.
