I did manage to do this a while back, but have forgotten (should have made a note).
The structural timber columns. I would like them to be filled black, like i can with concrete columns, walls etc. I can't seem to locate the timber columns in the VG window. Structural Columns and Column settings aren't doing it, nor is tructural framing etc.

Right click on the column in plan..... I don't know if it is architectural or structural column, only you know that. If structural, you can change the material and the material representation when cut. If architectural, the column will assume the material of a wall if it touches one.

Thanks for your reply, after some trial and error, I also found that the "detail" must be medium or fine to activate the cut infill pattern on the timber column.
I am learning Revit, out here in China. Revitcity and its members are just fantastic for my learning, thank you all so much.
