I'm trying to create an interior elevation tag that looks similar to a section tag (head & tail), but only has the detail number called out. Typically when we do interior elevations, the enlarged plan and all of its elevations are on the same sheet, so having an elevation tag that calls out the sheet number is a bit redundant.

I was able to successfully create the head, but I'm not sure how to create the tail.  Is it possible to add a breakable tail to an elevation tag? (By 'breakable' I mean the ability to split the tail line like you can with a section tag.)

Attached is a screenshot of the elevation head in action. I could just manually draw the tail with detail lines, but I was curious if anyone knew a more creative way to make the tail a part of the tag.

You could just use a modified section.  Yes.... the views will be stored under sections in your browser but so what?

That's very true. And section cuts do give me more freedom to reshape the crop boundary. You might be on to something here...
