I would like to export to dwg using my own layer standards. I see that you can load settings from file. it looks for a .txt file. how do I create a layer standard into a .txt file? is it something I need to do in CAD?

As with most things in Revit you can find the way by looking in your Help. That would refer you to this:

In 2014 (you don't say and I will not now look elsewhere) the file is in C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\RVT 2014. Copy that to another location, rename and edit as required then use the browse to find it.

sorry about that. I am using both 2013 & 2014. so I followed the path that you provided and did not see any .txt files that are related to the export .txt. is there a specific file name that I can look for?
also is there a way to create this .txt file from autocad based on my layers that I want to use?

exportlayers-dwg-AIA.txt
Do a search for that file from exployer NOT REVIT! .... You will see different ones in different places. The location I gave is 2014.
I don't know how you would do it from autocad.....

If you had read the other posts in this thread, you should have realized that the location is dependent on the Revit version you are using. Please be respectful and include your Revit version in your question.

The company I now work for has a well-established CAD layer standard. I am tasked with creating settings for Revit 2015 to export our Revit work to the company's CAD layer standards.
Is there a way to export the layer standards from a DWT/DWG file and import this into Revit through the Modify DWG/DXF Export Setup? It needs to be a TXT file for Revit to import.
thanks in advance
Ian
