I had created a custom stair landing (concrete-filled metal pan w/ 2"x12" stringers), but Revit considers it a "Generic Model". I want the landing to host railings, but "Generic Models" can't do that. Is there a way for me to convert my custom landing into a "Stair: Landing" family type?
A few key points:
- I'm using Revit 2014
- I didn't make a custom floor family as a landing because this landing is going inside of a stair shaft that has a single shaft opening spanning the entire height of the shaft (12 stories). The levels vary in height, so the number of risers changes level-to-level, meaning I'd have make a unique shaft opening for each level instead of a single shaft.
- The railings I want to host are just the railings that connect the stairs between each level. Normally, I'd just have the stairs themselves host those railings, but some of the stairs have triple runs (3 runs and 2 landings), so when I draw the railing to connect to the top of the triple-run stair and loop around to connect to the bottom of the next stair, it instead tries to connect to the bottom of the triple-run stair.

Edit the in-place family and change the category.
Next to the modify - the icon with the yellow folder.

Wait, I may have spoken too soon. "Stairs: Landing" isn't one of the chocies. In fact, none of the choices listed imply a landing nor even a floor. Is there a way to convert the Gerenic Model specifically into a Stairs: Landing type?

Perhaps this will help.... most sketches can be copied to clipboard and pasted into other sketches.....

Sorry if, I have double posts showing up on this thread, my computer is acting funny.
I'll give that alternate method a shot and let you know how it works. Thanks!
One quick question, though: How do you edit one of Revit's existing "Stairs: Landing" families? When I right-click it in the Project Browser, the only option I get is "Search..."
