I opened up to do some work on a project today and could not get my Annotate tap to work correctly.
When I click on the text button I should get a choice of leader buttons, but they do not appear.
When I click on the detail line button, the line tools do not appear.
When I try doing a filled or hiding region, I cant change the line tool, and the finish edit mode buttons will not appear.
Same with trying to make floors or roofs. The finish/cancel edit mode buttons will not appear.
The ribbon just doen't seem to be working as it should. Button that should appear dont, and buttons that should not be there do appear. Like the finish edit mode button appears when I try to do basic detail lines.
Thought I had a virus, but when I tried it on my other computer,( I am not on a network, single seat user) the same thing happened. Had not used that computer for any work in at least 2 months, and this just started today.
Very stressed. Can anybody help?
Using 2012 Revit Architecture
Help me please!

Did you also recently install 2014? The 2014 installation messes up a 2012 dll.
Close Revit and try deleting the following file. Revit will rebuild it. (You can rename it if you don't trust this process)
C:\Users\...your name....\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Revit\Autodesk Revit Architecture 2012\UIState.dat

Have not tried to install 2014 version.
Should I delete the program and reinstall?

No,..... try the process I gave you. Delete or rename the UIState.dat file!
And 2012 has 2 updates. Have you installed those? If not then do that!

Are you sure?
I am a little nervous doing this.
This is the file you say I need to delete and / or rename?
C:\Users\...your name....\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Revit\Autodesk Revit Architecture 2012\UIState.dat

You need to find that file. It may be in a different location dependent on your operating system. We have done this several times here on different stations when that file has become corrupted. That may not be your issue but try it! As I said - just rename it if you don't trust me.

I finally found that file and did the renaming of it. Nothing changed. rebooted the computer , still no change.
Should I just go ahead and delete that file?

If that didn't work, then no need to do anything else there. Did you check your updates? You did not idicate that you have both installed. <<< That would be a pretty obvious to do.

I found a hotfix for my problem, but it tells me to varify the build number.
Can you tell me how I would varify the build number of revit 2012?
