Hi, I'm fairly new to revit and I'm trying to change a pump that I downloaded from aurorapump.com. Ultimately I'm trying to get rid of the extrusion under the pump because I'll be loading the pump next to a water heater that I have created. Here is where the problem arises because I'm not able to delete the extrusion nor can I load this family into the water heater family. I am able to load the water heater to the pump family though. I'm thinking there is some sort of relation defined that prevents me from deleting it and I have no clue why loading one family into the other family is only compatible in one direction.

I have attached the file of the pump that I downloaded from the site if it helps.

No file was attached.  Are you sure it is an extrusion at the base and not an actual floor in the family?

Thanks for the prompt reply. Ill try attaching the file again. You can also download the file from aurorapump.com and its the 341A pump. I'm positive it is an extrusion because when I click it, it's called an extrusion. I am able to edit the measurements and I can move the extrusion out from under the pump but it just won't let me delete it. The link may work or it may prompt you to register for access.

It is an extrusion but it is part of the family template so it cannot be deleted, just like if you used a wall based family you can adjust the wall but you cannot erase it. When you brign it into a project the "floor" will not show.

Ok, Ill have to work with the extrusion then. Another problem that I have is trying go put two of these pumps in another family file. I have used the load family and load into project button and they seem to go through the operation but nothing happens on either file.

"Ill have to work with the extrusion then"- Theres nothing to work with you just leave it alone, its just there because the family is face based.

What 2 families are you trying to nest into eachother?

I have created another family which represents the space a water heater would take and I want to import two of the pumps from aurora into that file. Ill try to attach it. It is essentially just an cylinder that has an diamter of 90" and a height of 60", then it has another cylinder on top. I have had success with importing the water heater into the pump file but then I can't duplicate the pump.

Thanks teafoe5 for the helping me. I have figured out how to import the pumps and there is no problem now. I was simply using the wrong button to import and now the extrusion with the pumps are gone as well. I just leanred of the component button which solved everything for me. Again thanks for helping a new guy like me, it is much appreciated.
