Revit 2014
I made an Area Plan (gross) and I would like to make another one. I duplicated the plan view and made a new scheme but all the area boundaries are common between the two plan views. How do I make two area plan views with different boundries?

You don't duplicate plans to make area plans. From the Home tag - under the area dropdown, pick area plan and create what you need automatically or by sketching. Now do the same for the second plan .... you have to uncheck the "do not duplicate existing views" box when when you make your second... or third... or.... plan.

I'm with you up to that point. However, both of those plans use the same Area Boundry Lines. How do I make a duplicate area plan but with different (no none) Area Boundry lines?

You can use design options.

I thought of that but when I try it I get this error
Areas and Area Boundaries are not allowed in Design Options. Make an Area Scheme and an Area Plan for this Option then draw all Areas and Area Boundaries in that view.
I do not exactly understand that error, but "Making an Area Scheme and and Area Plan" is what we talked about above and that just gets me back to using the same area boundry lines again.
Am I reading that error correctly or am I missing something?

I have not had to do what you are trying to do so I'm not sure of what I would do....using sketch lines - not automatic
but I would use two different plans with a view crop..... move the first area lines and areas out of rage a known difference and create the second ones. You might shift left/right a specified amount to be able to modify later.

What I did was create another empty Revit file and link the origial Revit model to it. Then I created an other area plan with new Area Boundries. You do have to make sure you uncheck the switch in the "Edit Color Scheme" menu labeled "Include elements from linked files" or the original Area Boundries will STILL show.
