Hello thereHow do I start building a skylight window or window in a roof like a velux window, but a circular one. I cannot find a circular skylight window family to download anywhere so the option is to build one. Besides I need to design a specific one that harmonises with my forms. What template do I use and how do I actually build one? Does anyone know how? I have inserted the default Windows_Round_W-Trim in my roof and it stays vertical. My roof however is made with a wall by face tool, so is a wall, as the roof by face will not work on a shape with a near vertical part. That however cannot be the reason for the normal velux window inserts fine and flushes with the surface of the roof. So how do I actually build this roof window or skylight? Please see image, the building is cut into two by a section box.

Did you try opening one of the square skylights and see how they did it? There is information on what type of family it is and how it will be place in the project such as face based, roof based, floor based etc. You could start with a skylight and just modify it to your needs maybe?
Did you look at any of the posts below?

@teafoe5. Yes I had looked at the posts below. My case is a bit different. I need a circular roof window. And as my roof is a wall type instead of a roof type, there are some tweakings to consider. Btw when you open an existing family how do you know if it is a model face based or model roof based or pattern or etc... template? It is obvious what type of family it will be as the file will be named so, but what type of template is it using? where do you see this information in the file?

@Typhoon. Thanks for replying. But I don't see what template it started with there. All I see there is the type of family category it is and it's family parameters. It doesn't tell you what template it started with.
