using RAC 2014

ran across this today - needed to export a sheet to CAD. the sheet has multiple views - one of which is an interior elevation

where i edited the crop so it follows the crown and base board profiles. That view would only export the annotative elements, but not the

model elements. I tried to export just the view itself and got the same result. Thats when I noticed it was the only view on the sheet

with an edited crop. After resetting the crop to a rectangle, the export worked fine.

Did a quick search of the site on the topic, but couldnt find anything - has anyone experienced this before?

Elevation views don't have an editable crop other than width and height - they are just rectangular so please explain what you are doing.

Oops - when I checked to see if this was something new, I was in an earlier version.  I knew they added this for callouts but did not realize they did it for elevations.......  Thanks for pointing it out.

Now - to answer your question - since this is a new feature in 2014, I would think your problem is a bug that you need to report to autodesk.

May I ask - why?  This is really timeconsuming to do with very little benefit.  We have no problems with just the rectangular callout in areas like this.

no problem!

Its more of an old school thing i guess? - an interior elevation should only show the wall being elevated. the boundary of the interior

elevation should stop at the intersection of a perpindicular wall (typcially) - otherwise, you're showing something in section - generally a no-no for interior elevations Smile

In this example, it is certainly a bit tedious to do with the complexity of the crown, however, thats not always the case - like a kitchen, for instance, I will typically only show the outline of cabinetry perpindicular to the wall being elevated, or sometimes theres a ceiling furrdownat the wall perpindicular to the wall being elevated.

Before this handy little feature was added, I would get the same result by using masking regions - IMO the crop edit is a much

better way to go. I dont typically need to provide interior elevations to someone in CAD format, so it hasnt come up until now.

Ah .... but masking regions can be copied view to view and can be mirrored.  << Better yet....

true - but you can do the same thing when in edit mode for the crop boundary..or at least you can mirror, i dont know about copying

from one view to the next.

Id be interested to see if anyone can duplicate the problem - edit a crop boundary, export to cad, and see what you get.

Was there any good solution to this.  I am working with an interior designer that does not use Revit.

Is there such a thing as an edited view crop region in CAD, I don't remember any?

My initial response is "let them eat cake".....   They are the ones using CAD and may need to fix it.
