I have created a legend for my site and with a light post that is 12000 high I am unable to see the light covers for my legend. I was wondering if anyone knew how to change the cut plane on a legend so that i can see my the object like i have in plan, and paper.

What you see in your legend view is based on your reference level cut plane in your family. You can shoe a 3D view of it by following this post (although I have not tried it myself)

Thank you very much. I copied to clipboard from my one projects and then pasted in my new project. The only thing you have to do is when you make a new legend in for the new projects you have to remember that the scale must be the same as the information that you are going to paste into the legend.
