Has anyone had success putting a Revit model into an energy program similar to eQuest or DOE-2 to see how the building will perform? I've used Green Building Studio, but would like to be able to have more control rather than having the program make assumptions on things like wall and window type for me. I also have tried the exporting the DOE-2 file to eQuest from Green Building Studio with no success. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have done some things with REVIT drawn .dxf models in DOE, as well as another infiltration program....it is very cool, but the process, first time out , is cumbersome....those exported .dxf s are so finickey and then the modeling softwares have their own issues. ..and you have to creat your own operable windows families and such.... Sounds like you are further along than I, I am litlle jealous. On a side note ....Here's a thought..what about a plug in for such things..wish Autodesk would make plugins with REVIT more user friendly...for instance you can use an l-systems plug in for blender.....anyway, got side tracked.... .... WE Green Designers, could plug our models up and run a comprehensive...performance analysis along with the rendering, schedules, eds etc... ...very cool!...tell me more. mhemme, can you tell me the general guidelines you use to model in Revit (with the intention of exporting to gbxml to use in EQuest)? Do you model doors and windows as simple openings in that walls, or do you insert a regular object (family)? Any guidance would be extremely appreciated. Thanks, sth
