Revit 2013
I have two roofs layered on top of each other, one containing deck and insulation, one containing plywood and standing seam. This is to accomplish the offset for the facia and sealant.
For the plywood/ standing seam assembly, I need a square at the standing seam and plumb at the plywood. Do I have to make the standing seam and plywood their own stand alone roofs to accomplish the cuts illustrated in the attached pdf, or is there a way to do a custom rafter cut?
Thanks.

Can you use an in-place void to cut the profile you want out of the roof? If so then you could most likely create your roof as one piece instead of 2.

I considered it. That may be the answer for the rafter cut, but I was trying to avoid having a third element that's not a roof. I think I would rather have three roofs than a void going around every jog in the building, though.
It seems odd that the option for a custom rafter cut isn't available.

The void cut would still be in the roof category so it is still considered to be a roof.

I don't know how the last post got doubled...
It's not the roof catagory that leads me away from the void. It just seems overly complicated for what I'm trying to achieve to make the roof and then subtract some section of it which I will have to chase everytime the roof line changes. Building three roofs simply seems more to the point for revision's sake. It's the same result either way, so it's just a personal preference.
I was really hoping for a custom rafter cut, but it looks like that doesn't exist. Thanks for your help.

Please see attached drawing, if that was what you are looking for.
1. Roof rafters are 2x beam system.
2. The roof (only one roof) has 1/2" plywd, felt, 2" rigid insulation and another layer of 1/2" plywd.
3. Sloped glazing, which looks like standing seam in elevations, sections and 3D.
I alway use sloped glazing for standing seam.

Wow. That's an interesting method. I would have never considered it. So your sloped glazing (standing seam) is a layer on top of your roof? Did you do it as a curtain wall with glazing panels and use mullions for the seams?
I'm not sure this is the method for me, but I'm intrigued...

Very interesting. I guess I'm behind the curve on this one:
