Anyone have experiance with using manufaturer's families such as Fisher Hamilton? Their library is very thorough but also very hard to navigate because they use the product numbers as the family names and have a huge type list. Any advice?

I am using them on a project now.  Yes, their type list is huge and a little hard to follow at first but they are quality Revit families.   Just copy to your system the base family and the type catalog then load your families into the project from there.

I have a PDF of their catalog open seperatly so I can determine the number I need.

Do you edit their families at all or just use them as is? One thing I'd have to do is edit them to show up dashed below the countertop. How easy would it be to re-name their type list into something more user friendly, can you just edit the txt file? I'm embarking on bringing our lab specialty company into the world of Revit....UGH!

Don't alter the families!  Use the built in hidden lines tool in Revit.

Click on view / show hidden lines.  In the lower left corner, Revit will instruct you "First Pick - Select item to show hidden lines through" - in this case your counter.  Now in the lower left corner Revit will ask you to pick the item to show as hidden BUT before you do that check the multiple selection box on the options bar.  Pick all of the base cabinets you want to show and then double click out in space.

Sometimes there is a BUG here that doesn't seem to let you finish the process.  In that case I start a new command like view section then I hit escape.

Thanks! I think I've only used that tool once.
