I am designing a hotel with 5 types of room (and sizes) the usual, Standard Deluxe ,Superior, Exec...  etc.   In Total about 800 rooms.  I inetend to group each type and populate it throughout the hotel.  

To make a schedule and have the room tag listing the room / key number, do I have to place each area for each room, or can this be done in the actual group and thus automatically replicated?

I have done some tests and it seems the values of each grouped room are scheduled and listed as 1, 2, 3 ,4 etc, but the room tags are missing in the plan views. 

Or is there another way I should be doing this?

Watch out!  Groups are great but you need to learn what you should and should not include.   Items that will change need to be removed from the group - otherwise every instance has to be modified on every change - not just at the end of the edit.

For schedules, we only use one room from each type.  All other rooms are set not to be scheduled.  The same for interior room doors.
