I’m having trouble understanding how the graphics of a wall work when viewing it in plan. (See Attachment) For example, I setup a wall with a structural core of Masonry, I give that core a material of ‘Masonry – Concrete Masonry Units’. In the Graphics tabs of the Material Browser window for ‘Masonry – Concrete Masonry Units’ I adjust the Cut Pattern to my preference (in this case Diagonal crosshatch). I apply and close out of all the windows and return to modeling environment; the only thing though is that the wall has not taken the selected ‘Diagonal crosshatch’ pattern selected in the Material Browser, why not?
Instead, the wall takes the ‘Diagonal crosshatch’ pattern when I specify that pattern in the Course Scale Fill Pattern parameter in the Type Properties window for that wall. Why?
If this is how it is done, then what is point of the Cut Pattern option in the Material Browsers section?

Are you cutting the wall? Is the wall perpendicular to it the same wall? I ask because it looks like it has the pattern you want. Are you using phasing in your project? If the wall is set to existing and you are in a new phase it may not show a fill pattern.

Your HELP is your best friend.
and under Wall Type Properties:
Graphics
Coarse Scale Fill Pattern
Sets a fill pattern for a wall in a coarse-scale view. See View Properties.
Coarse Scale Fill Color
Applies a color to the fill pattern for a wall in a coarse-scale view.
The View.DetailLevel property uses the ViewDetailLevel enumeration and corresponds to the detail level options available at the bottom of the Revit window as shown below.
The ViewDetailLevel enumeration includes Undefined in the case that a given View does not use detail level.

teafoe5 your suggestion about it being phasing related was right on, but first yes, wall is being cut and the wall perpendicular is also the same wall but the 'Diagonal crosshatch' graphic was being "forced" onto that wall also via the Course Scale Fill paramter.
So it seems the wall in question (and all others) was modeled under an Existing phase and the current view is under a Project Completion phase. Revit recognizes that and does not show the graphics, which makes sense because why would you want to show additional details to elements that are already existing and/or not being remodeled?
Thanks teafoe5!
