the error showing up is "Cannot create continous rail geometry", is there anyway to possibly shut off the rails and add them in later separately?
*note - its not a steep ramp but does not follow the 30' ADA standard, this may change in the future, it also has a few curves which I presume may be the culprit

Yes you can create railing separately after you complete your ramp.

I always run into this problem with Modeling and curves. Sometimes revit just cannot create a sweep when the curve is too small/sharp. Like teafoe said, you can create it later seperately.
