How can I convert an older version of revit file to a newer one ?

And is that even possible Smile

Just open it and save it in the version.  Just remember once you upgrade it you cant open it in an older version anymore.

That doesn't make sense. You said you cant convert an older version of a revit family to a new one...if the family is saved in for example 2012 you can open it in 2013 and 2014 but not in 2011, 2010 2009 etc.

 

What version are you using and what version is the family saved in?

i downloaded the family from here(RevitCity) so i don't know what version it is. i am using Revit 2013, but when i open the file it says that it's saved in older version so it can't be open.

 

but now i see it is for 3Ds http://www.revitcity.com/downloads.php?action=view&object_id=14552 my mistake :/

For some complicated shapes such as furniture that Revit isn't really built for making we use models made in programs such as sketchup.
