I have enclsoed a copy of a GluLam family that has length, height and angle of structural member defined. I have placed these in a project that has about 17 of these at various paramters of angle, length, width and depth. The trouble is how can I separate out each one with different parameters. Obviously when I have 17 with only one family defined they all maintain the parameters. So how can I maintian the same family but different parameters Odo I hve to create a family for each of the 17?

Hi MongooseST1,

That's what "Type" for.

Under each Family you can ceate Types with unique parameters for each glu-lam.

It will look like this in the Family tree.

|______ Glu-lam

    |____ 5-1/2 x 15

    |____ 5-1/2 x 12

Right click your Glu-lam Family, pick New Type, rename it to the size you want, assign the parameters accordingly.

Hope that's what you need.

Ok...you state......Right click your Glu-lam Family, pick New Type, rename it to the size you want, assign the parameters accordingly.

The only place I see is withing the PROJECT BROWSER under FAMILIES. It appears that is what I did between the posting of this problem to your posting of your response...........by selecting the particular family in the view, editing TYPE in the dialogue box by DUPLICATING it and changing the parameters and labeling it 1, 2, 3, etc or a,b,c,d ..........

Thanks CDW
