is there a way to duplicate a view without duplicating the original view tag or call out?

sorry - should have made that more clear.
whenever you duplicate a view, revit creates a tag for that duplicate, and its usually done right on top of the tag for the
original view. I would like to be able to create a duplicate of a view and not have that tag automatically generated, or a quick way
to make sure that tag never shows up in any drawing regardless of its detail level. any thoughts?

Sorry but you are incorrect. When you duplicate a view, only the model elements are shown and nothing is duplicated except the view and its settings. When you duplicate a view with detailing, the view is duplicated and all of the annotative elements like tags (which are only in the view) are duplicated in the new view. Nothing is created in the old view.
Now perhaps you are specifically talking about a view like a section, elevation or call-out. Yes, a new callout is created in the original location. The question I need to ask is why are you doing this? Have you heard of "reference other view"?

yes, that is what im talking about..the elevation marker or section marker, or callout that references the view being duplicated.
There are serveral reasons I do this -sometimes its because I may need to show the same view in different ways, ie
presentation purposes, or detail purposes. sometimes i may want to show the same view, but with different visual styles.
There have even been a few times where I needed to show a slight variation occuring in the same view, and using
design options was a bit overkill for it.
Yes, i have heard of and used "reference other view"...How does that apply here?

I think your answer lies in your description,,, you want to modify the same view on different visual styles... which means to duplicate.. or else REVIT wouldn't give us an option to duplicate view

We often use working views for things like this. Make as many callouts as you want and they won't show up in other plans.

Thanks! I've always used working views, but It's always been in a basic way...did some quick research on creating types of views
and I think I see how it does exactly what im looking for...am i understanding it correctly, in that if I create a working floor plan type,
so it has its own branch in the project browser, any elevations, sections or callouts I create or duplicate will not show up in any
other floor plan type? that seems to be the case with a few test views Ive run.

let me ammend that...creating certain view types , like "floor plan - working" is only half the puzzle, the other half is using
filters. So I've created a working floor plan type, as well as workng section, working elevation, etc.. Then i create a filter for
each one of those, apply it to any view i dont want to see the callout or view tag in and turn it off. Like all things in revit,
a little setup on the front end makes all the difference in the world. If anyone has a different method for achieving this
result, I'd love to hear it.Thanks WWWHub for leading me in the right direction.
