Our office standard for room tags is to have the Room Name and then the Room Number below it in a box (see attached image 1). The issue I am having with the leader off the room tag is when the Room Name is longer then that of the box around the Room Number. This leaves a gap between the leader and the box which is not aesthetically pleasing and can actually become confusing when on a plan if the leader does not attach to the tag (see attached image 2).
I attempted adding a line from the center of the Room Number box edge out to the maximum size of the Room Name as a visible paramater, but this causes a whole other set of issues. For example the varying size of the Room Name text causing the extension line that was added in to look way too long (see attached image 3).
Does anyone know of a better way of doing a leader for a Room Tag while keeping it parametric?

WWHub,
Thank you for your reply, but this video does not really help. It is basically the attached image 3 from my earlier post. Adjusting the shoulder to be centered vertically was an easy fix.
It seems that what I am wishing to happen with the leader line is not possible due to the fact that the Room Name may extend past the Room Number Box. The way they seem to have fixed it in the video is changing the design of the Room Tag family to include a line across the entire family that the leader shoulder can start off of. In most cases the Room Tag will be centered in the room, so a tag designed as a centered element is desired unlike the left justified version the video showed.
I have decided though to take the leader off of the Room Name instead of the Room Number box. This seems to be a better fix.
Thank you for your help.

Think out of the box..... add a horizontal line from your room number box on one side - but you will need a left - a right - and no-line for no leader locations.

That is what the attached image 3 was. I did the same thing you mentioned with our keynote families. They have the keynote number that references the specifications with a short description below. Our office prefers this to the typical Keyed Notes with a legend.

Allright - I didn't catch that.....
Why do you allow such a long room name instead of stacking the name?

We only allow our naming to go out a certain number of letters before it wraps/stacks as WWhub said.

We do only allow so long of a Room Name before stacking, but it is still larger then that of the Room Number Box typically.
So there should be 3 different family types for a Room Tag.
1. Left Leader Room Tag (has an extension line for the leader shoulder).
2. Right Leader Room Tag (has an extension line for the leader shoulder).
3. Room Tag (no extension line, used for instance when able to be in center of room and when Room Name is smaller or equal to the size of th Room Number box).
It seems that this should work, just change the family type. I think I made it more complicated then it needed to be.
Thank you.

It is many years later, but I too am having this same issue. If the room name stacks, then the shoulder part of the leader goes up, and is no longer centered on the room number box. It seems like the shoulder centers itself on the center of the tag, but starts on the farthest right or left. I don't know how to change where that starts. I don't see any solution in the previous answers and I'm still trying to figure it out.
