Hello everyone,

I am using Revit 2013 and am something of a novice.

I am trying to create semi-transparent glass.

I know one poster here said that different materials have different properties but if you look at tiles you find transparency but if you look at glass this option doesn’t exist which is bizarre.

I attach a screenshot of my material editor where I am trying to edit glass. I cannot see a transparency option. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Thanks in advance.

It seems I have answered my own question as it seems there is an important toggle under material editor.

Graphics allows transparency

Appearance allows  reflectance

So I create two materials

Curtain Wall Glazing which is transparent

Curtain Wall Spandrel which is opaque

Both these should appear in the image of curtain wall attached but in fact only one type is visible.

Why did this mistake occur?

The problem of rendered glass appearing to be all of one type.

This problem does not occur when graphic display options is set to shaded or consistent colours with edges but does with realistic or raytracing.  Any thoughts?

If you need more types of glass, add more glass materials and add more than one glass panel type for your curtain wall.  Material is not an instance parameter typically.
