I am posting to try and find out any pros and cons to manually drawing ceilings in a Revit Model to host lighting fixtures to vs hosting lighting fixtures to an architectural rcp that is linked in?  What we have always done in the past is manually draw ceilings and just align the two grids.  I am having trouble with this because it's difficult to see where I have and have not been.  I was curious if there is any benefit to having a drawn in ceiling as opposed to just hosting lights to a linked in model.  And if it is beneficial to continue working this way is it possible to change the color of either the RCP in the architecural link or have the ceiling we draw in show up as a different color.  Any help/feedback would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance!

Hosting lights to a linked ceiling works fine as long as the light family is face based and not ceiling based.

You can definatley mine down into the visibility graphics of a linked file (using custom) and change the color of the ceiling for that model only.

Thank you so much for the reply.  The color changing worked great and was very helpful aligning everything.  After some in house discussion on the matter, we still decided to draw in our own ceilings for now for coordination purposes even though it is extremely time consuming.  Thanks again!
