I am starting a remodeling Revit project, with a existing, demo and new phases.  A discussion in our office has been - do you need to create separate worksets for the different phases.  CryingExisting workset, new workset, etc)

The argument is that worksets can be set to off in some views to allow for faster speed when opening the view.

Other argument is that phase filters already does that, so why would you have a 2nd way of filtering some items from a view.

Please advise!

Thanks!

Phases and worksets are two different tools with different purposes.  If you have existing demolition and new in your projects, then by all means use phases.  Worksets can control visibility but that is not their primary use.  They are primarily a tool for multi-user but are useful even in single user projects.  Worksets can, and often do, cross phases in our projects.  I would not add phase based worksets.

Just so you cover all bases, you also might want to re-think the Demo phase.
