I am new to this Site, i have tried to Download several Families such as Lightings, but everytime I try to attach it to wall or ceiling, a symbol shows that It is prohibited. A circle with slash appears. I checked the family unit settings and host etc., it should be fine but It doesn't allow me to put in my lights. Is there something I need to set on to the downloaded family? What seems to be the error?

So how is the light to be hosted because you don't say. A ceiling hosted light can only go on a ceiling and obviously - a wall hosted light needs a wall. A surface hosted light will host on any flat plane. What do you have?

Yes, I have my lights already installed in my ceiling and walls using the default families. What I meant was the families that I have downloaded in this site. I have DLoaded decorative lighting and fans etc., but everytime I try to mount it on my walls or ceiling, it cannot be attached there and a symbol of circle with a slash appears on it. Meaning, it cannot be hosted? But I do not receive any error message there, I don't know what seems to be the issue here?
Btw, my Main file was done in a central model and were done in collaboration and I am an external party with limited access to do revisions, if this has anything to do with it just FYI. But still, I'm wondering coz I was able to attached the default families in the RVT, but if I'll be using the said downloaded families, it doesn't work.
Thanks

In order to place a hosted family that cuts the host, you need to own the host. I don't know if you are working in a local file or a new file with a linked in model.
