I oftentimes wish that I could tag a 3D perspective in plan, much the same way that we tag sections and elevations. I often use a 3d view to describe something, and if there was the possibility to create a specific tag for this type of view and place it in the plan, it would be great. For the time being i'm just placing lines in a cone shape on the plan, with the drawing number in simple text. Anyone else share this wish?

Not sure what you mean.....
On one of my current projects, I have a 3D view placed on a sheet but without a view title. Locking that view allows me to tag and annotate it. Then to refer to that view, I created a callout on an elevation, turned off the model elements and placed this empty view over the 3D view with a view title.

Creating the empty drafting view is interesting idea. Basically i was using text to refer to the 3D view as a workaround. See the attched view. I suppose its not the most common thing to reference a 3D view in plan, but it would be nice for instance to set up a key plan with 3D views tagged in plan and have a sheet of 3D views. I mean, why not?!?
Also, another thing about references, is sometime it will not let you reference another view, depending on what type of view you are currently within. For instance, you cannot reference an elevation using a section tag, when you are in an elevation. Say, to look at the side of a piece of cabinetry you are looking at. Its just my general opinion that I think the software developers try to create these rules, about which views you are allowed to reference from where, and it gets annoying. Not every project is the same, and I am faced with these types of issues each time where i need to create these workarounds all the time.

Instead of what you did, I would use an interior elevation callout or rotated section, turned off the model elements and placed the empty view as I described.
You are right about refer other views but there are ways to deal with this. For instance, you can place a detail section view in elevation or section and reference a plan detail view... just rotate the section callout 90 to orient to match the plan.
