Using revit '11
It seems that you cannot pull the 2D point past the extent of your 3D point.
I realized this when trying to pull an exst gridline into a part of the new building. After pulling the 2D gridline from the "do not crop view" and then "crop view," the gridline would disappear. I realized I had to extend the 3D gridline.
There isnt much on the web about this because people rightfully assume that you would extend your gridlines well beyond your building. But this instance was when we were making out working point location drawing, and had to tie the new building from exst gridlines.
