Hi all,
First off, I'm using Revit LT 2014.
I've created a storefront sign for the company I work for, and created the sign as a family and bring it into each project as a Component.
I'm wondering if I can add potlights somehow to the bottom of my signbox? Usually it doesn't let me add potlights wherever there is no ceiling installed, so wondering if there is a way around it.
Thanks to whoever answers, for your time! Much appreciated.
Jay

Use a light that is NOT ceiling hosted. There are faced based lights. You can also create a light and nest it in your sign if it is internal.

How do I know if a light is ceiling hosted (where does it state that) ? I need a recessed can in the bottom of my signbox.

Can you place the fixture anywhere or only on a ceiling? That tells you right away. Or you can edit the family and look.

Well I am trying to install potlights in the signbox, so I assume all of them are ceiling based. Is there a way to turn it off from being ceiling based?

Sorry - there is not.
Anytime you have an object that is recessed, then it needs to be hosted in order to cut the host. A lot of users have quit using ceiling hosted in favor of face based families but that can only happen from when you pick the template. You will have to find a face based or build one using this ceiling based as an example. << A good learning process.
