I'm doing the construction storey for an apartment building and it involves building on top of an existing basement with existing columns/beams etc. The columns were built originally to protrude up and out of the slab (I'm guessing for futurue construction like now) by 200-400mm. I'm modelling this in Revit and for the first time using Phases, and just simple 'Existing' and 'New Construction'.

When it comes to construction in real life these columns which protrude will be cut down to a certain level to make way for a new slab and some extra structural support. I am wondering if Revit is able to have it so I can have the columns in Existing Phase protruding out as they are, but when I want to go show the New Construction Phase the columns are shown to be cut down to the desired level?

Create 2 columns on the existing phase. One will go from the base to where it will be cut down to (demolished) the other will go from the demolished point to the existing top which will be demolished
