Best advice I can ever give .... Learn to use your help....

If you search the Help for "default view" you will see a list and in there you find:

Specifying the Starting View for a Model

.... now isn't that easy?

I just re-read your question.... I thought you meant default view when you open the Revit file.  I have no idea what you mean when you ask about the default view in a 3D PDF.  Maybe you should explain your question.  What are you using to make your 3D PDF?

I'm using the 3d pdf converter from tetra4d. When I open the pdf, my 3d model automatically shows up in a certain "default" view and I'm wondering if there is any way to change this from the beginning.

I have never used the program you are using but I would think the controls you need rest with that PDF conversion program - not Revit.

I'd say follow what WW says and see if that helps. Or maybe adjust the default 3D view to what you want in REVIT then save the file before doing the export. Or check the PDF exporting tool to see if there is an option. Or maybe it's just not possible . . . . ie: Check with the tetra4d people.
