Ok, i am doing an extension in Revit its an over garage extension and very straight forward so i thought i would do it in revit to help me with my learning curve but i must admit im very tempted to bin this off now and revert back to ACAD/ Microstation.

I have drawn the existing house, set everything to existing. I want to then add some steel box beams to support the wall above the garage and key it into the house plus add the trusses for the roof.

my problems= after drawing the existing up, placing the trusses etc i was very happy. roof by extrusion looks good. windows arent as exsisting but i can worry about that later.....

I have now started extension..... Sad bad times, how do i get my truss to key in at the ridge, do i really have to crate a new family with the ridge offset to the exact dimension it needs to be!!! if so how unproductive is that. (the garage extension height matches the height of the building but not the length)

also, when i look in the elevations all of the existing is shown as grey and the windows are just horrid grey areas.... FFS i havent spent a day detailing this up to the nines for it to be "blobbed" out! is there an easy way i can adjust the settings of this....

Once i have finished the house i will upload it so you can all have a laugh lol... it would likely take you guys a mere few hours to achieve what has taken me hours upon hours to achieve....

Your question is hard to follow without any images to help explain it.

Your "grey" problem is controlled by VG settings and the phase display options of the view.  The best way to learn this is to experiment with your phase and phase filter settings in a view.  Change these independently and watch what happens.
