I'm new to revit and desperate for help, since the help function isn't very helpful and only deals with metal beams.
I know how to pick "structural-timber" and create wooden beams. I can also create solid extrusions. What I need to know is how the hell do I get beams or extrusions to snap to a grid line WITHOUT going on center. Just telling isn't going to help. I need step by step instructions. It seems that everything I create I am not able to quickly dimension properly or move to where I need it, as in a ground sill where the cross beams need to be 1/2" from the inside edge? Is it even possible to do timber framing in this application?
HELP! PLEASE!!

The help is a little out of date.........
I had to create a post and beam barn at my last job and came up against this same issue. I ended up creating a bay section as one piece using the extrusion tool. I then joined that all together and that completed my frame. See this revitcity link for more detail

If you don't need to schedule all the members and all you wand to do is draw it, them the above method will work very well.
