Everytime I click on the "Decal" Tool, the ribbon changes for less than a second to the "Modify | Decal" dialogue and then goes back to normal (no active tools). This is apparently only a problem in the model I'm working with as I was able to use the decal tool in a basic, new project. I've tried the following:

- Clicking on the decal tool while in different types of views (3D, plan, elevation, etc.)

- Deleting all decal types and adding new ones

- Using the decal on other's computers who are working on the same project

- Setting my work plane before clicking on the decal tool

- Restarting Revit

- Auditing the file

Has anyone ever had this issue or does anyone have any potential solutions? Thanks!

Do you have all of the updates installed?  << Always the first place to check on something like this.

I'm having the same issue in Revit 2013 - and yes, my software is up to date.  The decals were working last year, so maybe one of the softeware updates is the problem.

Check the File location, and file type and size as well. I recomend you not to use files much larger than 100Kb.

Try to use Jpg, Bmp and Png format files

Thanks for the advice, however, the file locations are correct and the average file size is 50kB.  Also the decals used to work in this project - I just wanted to re-apply a couple of them.

Further investigation indicates the problem is project specific as my "place decal" command works in other projects, so maybe an error or a bug in this particular project.
