Hi there,

I'm just starting to learn revit and am having trouble creating a simple post and beam house.

The main thing thats slowing me down is;  windows and doors do not recognise a "component in place" post I've made, architectural columns or Structural columns.  So theres no way to put in windows and doors between posts.

I've tried other ways, creating a wall, insert window, but I cannot insert a post/column in the wall.

the post and wall just sit ontop of one another.

That doesn't help either as I still cannot put a sliding door up against a post

I'm sure theres way.

I am not following your problem.  "windows and doors do not recognise a "component in place" post I've made" What did you make? What do you mean they aren't recognizing them?  You can create a wall and then create a column or "post" at the ends of the wall.  A column will cut a wall.

Hi Teafoe,

Thanks Teafoe,

I figure out whats going on. I have to create wall first --> place a column--> put in door.

With out a wall a door will not recognise a column so you cannot put a window in the scene.

cheers
