my up high window needs a plan region to be see able on the layout. but as you can see, a wall is also being cut. but when I move the plan region edge closer to the windows, the windows disappear. see both images for a before and after. note the plan region is not even close to the edge of the window in either scenario,

Make your plan region narrower so its not crossing that wall.. otherwise change the top constraint so that its above the window if possible

what you said doesnt make sense. the problem is not the wall thats incidental, its the windows....they disappear! moving the edge of the plan region closer to the wall is the problem.

I miss read your problem. So why are u moving it closer to the wall if it works one way? Eitherway I would assume that there is a reference line in the family that is not being picked up when u move the plan region closer, I believe the entire family needs to be in the plan region in order to show

So I stripped it down.
tell me how you get the plan region to be against the wall hosting the window...it works on the window on the left...why does the window on the right go blank.

I played around with that family and I could not find out what was wrong.
I checked for nested families, voids, invisible lines, reference lines - but could not find out what it was. But it is that family. I would send it to AutoDESK and see what they would come up with.
