I downloaded a file from the lighting family here (School-house light-211) and i placed it in my model. However when i render the view the lights dont emit any light. I have the watts and lumens as postive numbers. Is there something im missing? The lights are hanging from the roof (they arent in a ceiling) is that causing the problem? Help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you sure its not emitting any light or are the materials applied to the light not indicating as such?
If there is no light being emitted check your rendering settings and make sure you have the light source turned on in your lighting tab.
If the light is emitting light but still showing grey, edit its material to be something more reminiscent of a glowing light.

if everything fine with the light material check if you have exterior or interior scense checked<you said it's hanging off the roof,meaning it's out side under you rendering-lighting-check your lighting list (on and off)
