Hello -

I'd like to create floor load diagrams as part of our structural drawing sets, but I can't figure out which Revit tools would work best.

I've tried playing around with the Architectural "room" tools and the analytical "area load" tools, but these seem to be designed for entierly different applications from what I'm trying to do...

I've attached an example of a typical floor load diagram that our office created with AutoCAD. Basically, I just want to outline some floor areas and create a schedule or key to designate the different loads that we've designed for. It all seems pretty basic to me, but I don't see an obvious way to create this in Revit. Don't other firms create these sorts of of load maps for their documents?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Why not just do this as a floor plan and create an annotation tag that you can schedule with the information you need

I would love to do this with filled regions - but as far as I know, it is not possible to create a schedule of annotation items.

What sort of model objects do you think I could apply tags to?

You could do this from an area plan and add a parameter to areas.

Yeah - thanks! That's actually what I've just started attempting right now. I've set up some gross area plans and used schedule keys to designate a "Residential Floor" with its associated live load parameter, etc.

This seems to work great as far as the schedule is concerned. I really wish that I had more control over the lineweights and surface patterns (so that "Green Roof" would appear with a fill pattern, for example), but maybe I'm asking too much...

You should be able to have patterns (drafting).

Yes, I can add filled regions and drafting lines to the area plans.

It would be great if there were a way to link a specific pattern to a key in my schedule, though - so that when I changed an area to "Green Roof" it would automatically change its appearance... but like I said, I'm probably asking a little too much.
