I have made a family of a UB with an RSA family nested in to form a shelf angle.
I have set a couple of parameters up to change the size of the shelf angle, height offset etc. Works well.
However, what I am struggling with is the start and end offset of the nested angle. I cannot seem to lock the start or end of my RSA to a ref plane so when inserted into the project, the angles dont go the full length of the beam.
Any ideas?

What is a family of UB and an RSA family? An image of your problem is always helpful, there really isn't enough information given to help you. Eitherway you should just be able to align and lock the edges of your angle to a reference plane so that it will not move.

UB - Universal Beam (I beam)RSA - Rolled Steel Angle.
I have a UB and it needs shelf angles (RSA'a) attached so concrete planks can be supported off them.I got a standards UB family and saved as and then loaded an RSA family up and nested it into the new UB family. I can locck them horizontally no problems, so I can change the heigh offset.
Now, with all framing families when inserted into a project you can make them the desired length. This one is no different, I can put it into the project and put it where I want.
The problem I have, the RSA's stay the set length they are in the family, i.e they do not stretch the full length of the beam as I want them to.Family attached.

Instead of nesting in the angle I created an extrusion to the angle shape and size and added the required parameters to it. Obviously the only downfall to this method is if you want to change the size of the angle but it does work this way. I don't have time at the moment to figure out why the nested family won't read the parameters correctly.
