Greetings,
I am working on a large office fit-out. Given the huge number of fixtures involved we have opted to show these in plan as 2D Family elements loaded as Families; instead of bunging up the model with hundreds of 3D desks and chairs, (we don't need renders just yet).
These 2D 'furniture' Family items do not show up in the print preview or in the hard copy print.
Any suggestions please?
Many thanks,
CM.

You are saying you can see them on the screen but they don't print? Please be clear.
Some items may not show up on print preview. AutoDESK screwed this us about 2012. But if they are on the screen and nothing is really hiding tem, then they will print..... that is, if you have the latest printer drivers. Try a different printer - try a PDF. I believe your problem is there.

Hi, thank you for your response.
That is correct, I can see them in all the drawing views. When I do a print preview for either PDF or the printer however, they do not show. I have checked the visibility settings and everything is on/visible. i have no other printer to try.
Any other suggestions?
Many thanks,
CM.

Additional:
The plan view in the sheet was created using a Callout - Detail view, if this makes any difference.

Ah that was it.
The 2D elements were not showing up in the plan view on the Pdf/print because the view added to the sheet was a detail callout. A plan callout will show the 2D elements.
Thank you.
End.

Try a different PDF printer. Try "cute".
If you can see them in the callout view then they will print.... But you have to have the latest drivers for printing and you must have the latest Revit updates as well.
You should always say what you are using. 2012, 2013, 2014 - what? What build?
