I'm drafting a French Drain section and I had to download a gravel pattern and was not able to scale it. Either when I downloaded it, or with the properties dialog box. I tried to add "earth" fill pattern, and my gravel pattern changed to earth pattern???
In AutoCAD I would also show a ground cover pattern.
Can anyone give me a clue about working with patterns? The tutorial & help don't go into enough depth. I'm creating 2d drafting views.
Thanks

To scale a pattern you need to select it in the custom menu, Then pick on its name after selecting it. This then makes the scale field active.

Thanks Mr Spot for the quick reply. Here's my dumb question: Where's the custom menu?
Also, how do I do mulitple fill patterns in the one drafting view?
Thanks again.

In settings Fill Patterns you can create new fill patterns from imported pat files.
Click New-->Custom navigate to the appropriate *.pat file, pick the appropriate pattern, select its name and change its scale.
To have multiple fill patterns in one drafting view just insert filled regions of different types. You may need to create a few by duplicating existing ones then selecting another fill pattern for that type to use.

Thanks Mr Spot, I was able to get multiple fill patterns on my view, however I'm still having problems scaling the fill patterns. When you say "Click New-->Custom navigate to the appropriate *.pat file, pick the appropriate pattern, select its name and change its scale." I'm not following you. . . are you saying File>New>. . . ? Cause you can't get to .pat files from there.
I think your directing me to the "Modify Pattern Properties" dialog box, and when I go there, the preview window has a big X thru it and the scale window underneath the preview window is greyed out, no scale option.
In your first post, you mentioned custom menu, I'm still trying to figure out what the custom menu is
Thanks again.

Refer to the attach pic it should explain it easier.
Settings-->Fill Patterns-->Drafting tab-->New-->Pick the custom check-->Select Import-->Find your pat files and pick one-->Select one from your import list if there are multiple in that pat file-->click in the name field to activate the scale field-->adjust the scale as necessary and then okay out of the command.

Thanks Mr Spot, it worked that time. I don't understand why I wasn't able to fix the scale when I reloaded the pattern the first time, but I could do it the second time.
I guess that's part of learning the quirks of Revit. I appreciate the help.
