Our drawing poorly references stair evelation "8" as shown below-left.  I want it to look like the one on below-right, which I mocked-up with Photoshop. When I select the marker and shutoff "8", Revit asks if I want to delete the view, which I don't. I tried creating a new elevation view and selecting "Reference other view" and then shutting off "8" but the new elevation view tagged it with "Sim" and still wanted to delete the elevation?

Just don't use the same elevation marker - start a new one.

I tried creating a new elevation marker and selecting "reference other view" but ran into the trouble I described in my original post; or are you saying something else? I could start fresh and create a new elevation marker and view and copy/replicate all my notes, tags, etc., from the current elevation, which wouldn't be too much work. I just thought they'd be a way that wouldn't require me recreating my view.

I mean create a new view << view tab / elevation and point and place it.....

Yes - copy paste from one to the other then delete your old view.  The number can still be 8.

I think you can also just click on your original #8 view in the browser and pick copy with detailing.  That will give you a brand new callout overtop the old one.  Move it to your new location and delete the old view.  Now place this new view on your sheet.
