I am trying to have wall opening setback for door jamb sweep. That way outer face of door jamb will be the door width, and the actually wall opening will be a couple of inch wider for the jamb. I read a lot about people talking about instance parameter or something, but I could not find a step-by-step instruction. I've also downloaded bunch of other doors that have such wall setback and studied the family types, but I failed to figure out myself (I just started teaching myself Revit.)
Could someone please help me?

Parameters are what make families in Revit special. You need to read up on what they are, what they do, how they work etc. Here is a good families guide to help you start.
